Pangkor Island Beach Resort 邦咯岛金沙滩酒店

Last X'mas i decide to spend a night at Pangkor Island Beach Resort. I stay at this resort many years ago. One of my favourite private beach resort. It claimed that the only private beach resort at West Malaysia.

As the decision made very last minute, all other booking website was full. So i book through their own website. The X'mas package inclusive a compulsory Gala Dinner. Sound excited !

The Lanai, Ocean Wing & Pacific Wing only allow for 2 adult + 1 child. So i have no choice to choose their Garden Wing type accommodation. But don't worry ! Garden Wing have it own advantage. It come with 2 queen bed. Quite ideal for family with kids like me. Of course no Beach view and far from the pools. Never mind, the best part of this resort is not their room. Is their very private own sandy beach and the surrounding environment.

The rate is $530 ++ for X'mas eve. The rate inclusive of dinner and breakfast. This hotel a bit difference from others in Malaysia, it charged everything based on head count. Children above 4 year old will be charge accordingly for room, ferry and meals. Please take into consideration if you are tight budget traveler like me. I booked 2 rooms as we have 5 adult and 2 child.

The ferry to the resort was locate at Lumut town Jetty not Marina Island Complex Jetty.
The resort have a counter at Lumut Jetty. They will handle all your luggages. The ferry fare need  to pay separately.  Adult - RM19, Child - RM13

The counter

The ferry to their resort was not the same as the one to others part of Pangkor Island. They have the different ferry and schedule. Of course different fare also. The resort locate at north part of Pangkor Island and quite far away. You still can access to the resort by ordinary ferry and follow by taxi.

Private Jetty at Pangkor Island

Once we arrive their own jetty at Pangkor, the shuttle bus is already waiting there. Actually the shuttle bus driver's is the same person who handle our luggage at Lumut counter. He just park the bus at Jetty and follow the ferry to Lumut side. Driver cum reception. Save cost !
While our luggage were load into the Pick up van and sent to the resort.

The shuttle bus to resort. The shuttle bus look like the one at "J". Ha ! Better not to mention.

The Pandy's and some singer welcome us at the open air lobby. Welcome drinks also serve while waiting to check in. Guest can also enjoy their complimentary drink and snack at Golden Oriole Lobby Lounge & Bar.

Beach view from lobby

As expected, room not ready. What to do ! Peak season. So we went to the beach.

And...........

Ya.... hoo !

Hi !

The beach

After 1 hours, the reception give us the room key. Still using the old key system. Aiya ! Time to upgrade la !
This kind of key are not user friendly. And quite troublesome to bring along.
The bell boy are busy, so we carry our own bag to the room. We need our bag cause my kids can't wait to change their swimsuit.

Garden Wing

Now ! Let see the Garden Wing Room...........

Yes ! 2 x Double bed

Bathtub

My kids does't like the room. They said look very old. Whatever la ! We are not whole day inside the room.
My elder daughter even pinpoint the dirty part of some pillow cover.
Room really look aged. (In fact it was age). But able to maintain it very well and in term of size and facilities is more or less same as Pacific Wing. The layout of Garden Wing is better. The balcony is bigger. Unfortunately, like most hotel they fixed the air-con compressor there. And it make the place feel very hot. Not comfortable to sit there. Only good for drying wet towel.

Separate compartment. The cupboard can be open from both bed side or washroom side.

"Sanyo" box TV and the typical Chinese medical hall drawer.

Sofa

Without further delay, we changed and went to the pool.

Enjoy !

View

Plenty of shade from the gorgeous palm and tropical trees line up the beach. There is a "Dato" temple located at the hill behind the SPA. To reach there, you have to climb the slope and up to the hill.

View down from the 'Green Dato' temple

Breath-taking sunset

Oh yeah ! During the sunset, we saw a wild boar run across the beach. Unable to snap a picture. It happen too fast. The wild boar looking for X'mas Eve dinner too !

Prepare to go for X'mas Eve Gala Dinner

We went to the Hornbill restaurant to have our X'mas Eve Gala dinner. We went quite early like other Malaysian's in order to get better seat. Ha ! Ha ! Kiasu ! Meanwhile those waiter, waitress and even the chef were busy catching people who walk in from various entrance. They will make sure all are paid guests. No free lunch ! Opos ! should be no free dinner ! Same thing happen to breakfast. I wonder the hotel already head count their guests during ferry time and check in. But still there are people who not in their list. How they able to come in the resort ?

Another 2 minutes to start...

The Gala dinner food decor
